First and foremost, a HUGE thank you for making this year’s Brain Tumor Walk another great success!! Attached and below are a few group shots from the day. I love it! You can feel so much love come through. You can also visit the National Brain Tumor Society’s Facebook page… and see more pictures of us and the teams that came out to walk on that sunny day.
I could not have asked for more… your sincere affection, beautiful smiles and support made the day a precious memory. Our team’s infectious love surely did not go unnoticed and I think we not only sent out into the world enormous amounts of positive energy but we also helped so many in need of a cure. Thank you! Grazie! Danke! Domo Arigato! Merci! Gracias! Thank you!
Dollars and Cents
Overall this year’s walk raised over $577,000. Our team to date has contributed over $5,500 of that amount and donations are still coming in! Thank you all for your generosity, I am truly humbled. A big call out to Cindy who raised over $1500 – you go girl!
Special Thanks To
Carla for the delicious cookies and treats. So finger licking good it made the early rise that day a distant memory. 🙂
John for holding down the fort.
Jake for being our chant’s leader.
Sofia and Elizabeth for keeping us young at heart.
Janice, Cindy, Mary and Emily for the extra effort.
Luca for walking with us and representing our ever-faithful 4-legged friends. We know how tempting it was to be off the leash…
Each of you for your help setting up, facilitating and cleaning up after the walk. What a team!
And extra special thank you to mom and dad for being so incredibly strong and loving each and every day. Your three daughters are ever so grateful for the pair of you and love you lots and lots!
Last but not least, I would like to dedicate this year’s walk not only to Francesca but also to Jackie Oswald and Kate Burke. Three incredible women and brain tumor fighters who left us too soon but whose love and memories will be a part of us forever!!
Remember to hold the date for next year: May 3, 2014 . Until then… We’re walking, We’re talking, We’re Rockin’ for Francesca!
Love and hugs,
Skylawn Funeral Home assisted Sutter VNA Hospice in hosting their annual Spring Memorial Service on May 7th, 2013 for families who have suffered a recent loss.
Sutter VNA staff provided an individual candle for everyone who spoke their loved ones name. Guests stood up one by one and spoke the name of their husband, mother, wife, grandmother, etc. One of the most touching moments occurred when a woman from Georgia, who attended the memorial alone, spoke the name of her brother, a bay area resident. The support she received from the guests in attendance was immense.
We truly believe that these events assist in healing that ever gaping hole that is left after a loss and we look forward to hosting more events like these in the future.
A huge thank you to Sutter VNA Hospice!
